Madden 13 Record Breaker

EA announced today that more than 1.65 million copies of Madden NFL 13 were sold during the game’s first week on sale. Just last week, EA announced that Madden had a record-breaking first day, and the franchise has now had its best first week of this console generation.
According to EA, there’s been a 31% increase in online games played compared to last year, with more than 24 million contests recorded. “That’s the equivalent of a staggering 47,000 NFL regular seasons in just seven days, and, on Labor Day alone, an average of 3,000 Madden NFL 13 games were started every minute,” EA noted.
“We’re thrilled to see the great momentum continuing on Madden NFL 13,” said EA Sports executive vice president Andrew Wilson. “The overwhelming feedback is that this is the best Madden NFL game in a generation. Fans are competing in record numbers, and we expect that type of engagement to only grow with the start of the NFL regular season last night, as fans connect with their favorite teams and players through our game.”
EA also revealed that 1.4 million fans connected online last week, and more than 702,000 unique visitors connected to the new Madden Ultimate Team mode.Madden NFL 13’s Facebook page had more than 1.3 million unique visitors, and Madden was mentioned 450,000 times on Twitter.
Madden NFL 13 launched on August 28th. In addition to its new Infinity physics engine, this year's installment also adds new Connected Careers and Kinect voice controls. For a full rundown, check out our Madden NFL 13 review.
